Leveling Up: Transforming Newbury Rugby Club's Game Day Audio

When Newbury Rugby Club reached out to Venutec, they had a problem common to many busy hospitality spaces. Their upstairs function room—the heart of the clubhouse—had an audio system that just couldn’t keep up.

Louise and the team were facing poor sound coverage, a lack of power, and an L-shaped room that proved difficult for their existing low-impedance setup. With only a few underpowered speakers working from a projector input, audiences couldn't hear speakers or music clearly, creating a disconnected experience. To make matters worse, the radio microphone system was unreliable, causing issues just when they needed it most.

The Venutec Vision

Venutec specialises in finding the right solution, not just the easiest one. We surveyed the space and knew the Rugby Club needed a robust, flexible commercial system capable of delivering consistent audio to every corner.

Our solution was built around a high-power 240W 100V multi-zone amplifier, capable of handling multiple inputs including DAB+, Bluetooth, and local inputs.

The Transformation

We moved away from the old ceiling setup and deployed ten sleek, white 40W 6.5" wall-mount speakers.

• Zone 1 (The Bar): Two speakers focused specifically on the bar area, allowing for independent volume control.

• Zone 2 (The Main Room): Eight speakers distributed evenly across the larger, main function space.

This new configuration ensures that whether you are right next to the bar or at the back of the room, the sound is clear and consistent.

We also overhauled the cabling, integrating the Epson projector controller directly with the new amplifier for seamless AV presentations. And that finicky radio mic? We solved the signal dropouts by permanently mounting the unit with the antennae positioned for a direct line of sight to the handheld microphone.

Game-Winning Results

The installation was completed smoothly, and the results speak for themselves. The Newbury Rugby Club now has a professional, easy-to-manage, multi-zone audio system that elevates every event.
